Steven Alles, MD, MS, MFA

Steven has gained great insight working with populations more likely to suffer adverse health outcomes throughout his career as a public health physician in Philadelphia. He has guided Philadelphia through a number of outbreaks, including COVID-19, H1N1, Ebola and Zika. As an Internal Medicine intern at Temple University Hospital, and after years of street outreach in Kensington to bring vaccines and infectious disease testing and treatment services to homeless and drug-using people, he has connected with individuals in our community and developed a better understanding of the impact that social and biological challenges have. To further his art experience, he has moved into a studio at the Loom in Kensington and has begun to produce artwork and connect with urban artists in Philadelphia. This is an exciting time for him as he applies his time and energy to the creative arts, connecting with the urban artistic movement and finding his niche. He intends to produce, show, and sell art and hopefully influence how art can connect and inspire others to think creatively and come together to improve our community and elevate our personal and collective experience.
